SKILLS
Artist, writer, instructor, curator, and business owner.
WORK
1996-2021:
Art Program Creator and Director, Providence Mount Saint Vincent Residence, Seattle. Begun as a program to bring authentic art instruction to intergenerational classes of residents and children, over time my approach became the core of a method I developed into the art curriculum at Mount Saint Vincent. Now a subject of ongoing research into intergenerational teaching methods, my lesson plans include considerations for engaging a wide variety of students effectively, with the over-all goals being student learning and nurturing intergenerational relationships.
2008-2015:
Co-owner and president of Eye Can Art LLC. My business packaged art lessons into fun-to-use, self-directed teaching kits available on the retail market. My responsibilities included all aspects of driving and managing the business, including executive direction, product design, writing, component sourcing, production, inventory and manufacturing, vendor relationships and contracts, client management, accounting, budget and loan management, packaging and promotional design, marketing, sales and merchandising, presentations.
1986-1996:
Manager, Production Photography Department, Seattle Weekly Newspaper. I oversaw all aspects of newspaper imaging, production and personnel in my department, including the transition from traditional to computer-based imaging methods.
Ongoing:
I continue to make and show my own art in Seattle, Washington where I live.
I annually organize an art sale and exhibit of my students artwork. I curate, frame, price, and hang the show of approximately 55 pieces.
